THE SITUATION

Honda believes in the power of dreams and wants everyone to have a shared experience that connects them to the rich tapestry of life passing by. Gazing out the passenger window of a car as you cruise along on a road trip is an experience that unlocks the imagination and changes the way you think about the world around you. But, so far, that’s an experience that has been unique to able-sighted passengers. For those who are visually impaired, riding in a car can often feel isolating, as they’re segmented off from any conversation pertaining to the outside world.

THE SOLUTION

What if we could take accessibility a step beyond simply providing raw information, and make it more evocative by conveying the splendor and beauty of the world around us? Scenic Audio weaves together cutting-edge AI tech and a wealth of data to create captivating real-time narratives that paints vivid pictures of the world passing by outside a car window.

To develop and test Scenic Audio, we worked closely with Perkins School for the Blind’s Howe Innovation Center, with additional collaboration from Alabama Institute for the Deaf and Blind.
